Minutes of the School Council Meeting – October 6th:
1. Welcome and Introductions
- Meeting opened with a welcome from the Principal.
- Attendees introduced themselves.
- Two informational videos were shared:
- What is School Council?
- School Council Fundraising
2. Teacher Report
- Many extracurricular clubs and activities are now active:
- Drama
- Reach for the Top
- Robotics
- Legacy Garden
- Chess
- Volleyball
- Cross Country
- Choir
- Drop-in Band
3. Principal & Vice Principal Report
- Weekly newsletter continues to be sent to parents.
- Recent and upcoming school events:
- Meet the Teacher Night was held successfully.
- Terry Fox Walk completed.
- Cross Country Meet scheduled for next week.
- Grades 2, 4, and 7 have been attending field trips to Swan Lake Outdoor Education Centre.
- Ongoing cookie sales fundraiser.
- Photo Day scheduled for October 21st.
- School Council Forum is scheduled for November 12. Let us know if you would like to attend.
4. Financial Report
- Approximately $2,000 remains from last year’s budget.

6. PROGrant Activity Discussion
- Ideas proposed:
- Literacy Night

7. Safety Concerns Discussion
- Concerns raised regarding:
- Parking lot safety and traffic flow.
- Dangerous turning onto/from Henderson.
- Uncleared pathways to the school.
- Lack of sidewalks on nearby streets.
- Aggressive driving near school grounds.
8. Grounds and Cleanliness
- Suggestions made:
- Install more garbage cans outside to reduce litter.
- Clean up green space and unmaintained areas around the school.
